So It Goes

Post by Mike Daniels »

So It Goes

So it goes,
and so it goes.
On a flux of fire -
the crucible of his passion
and the critical path
of his anger -
an issue of language
to curdle thought
in the deep heart of the storm.

So it goes
and so it goes.
Humour skins the note -
sets the tone of the debate
in the wealth of his concerns -
until a fading of despair,
and ultimate decay.

So it goes
and so it goes.

(Whistles loudly)...

That is marvellous Mike. I really like the 'sidewinder-on-desert-sandlike' effect you have achieved here. How the wording travels, occasionally whipping out, always on the move even while recoiling around;
  • "so it goes
    and so it goes
    ".
This creates for me what I can only describe as a dimensional awareness of the centre of the entire structure. This worked for me and in turn beckoned a second reading. And a third.........

I'd love to read any feedback you might have, or thoughts on this work, or how you became inspired to pen it. What moods you were working with while writing it would be really cool.

Personally, I believe it's a complete piece but I bet you get an inkling every now and then to revisit it...

When I was young, so much younger than before,
I read the novel 'slaughterhouse 5'
about Billy Pilgrim and the firestorm
that was Dresden.
Billy, an American p-o-w,
survived the barrage by diving into
'slaughterhouse 5.' His catchphrase throughout
the novel is 'So it goes.'

The freethinking author of the novel
was Kurt Vonnegut, who was an American p-o-w
who survuved the firestorm of Dresden by diving into
'Slaughterhouse 5.'

Kurt died this week after a fall at his home,
continuing is socialist invective until the end.

So it goes.
