A Tear and A Smile

He has to choose
between tears and a smile.
Then, through the tears, a smile.
Or maybe, through a smile, tears.
Certain only that
he has his solution,
has made a choice.
It is enough.

Short, and beautifully conceived, written and presented. Such a simple poem; pared down to essentials, and so effective as a result.

Thanks - I'm trying to get back to being simple and direct. Its a perpetual battle, as generally, I want decorative, ornamented writing.
