The Black Perceptory Are On The March Again. Tossers..!
Laughing my chops off right now. The Black Perceptory (extremist Orange Order sect) are marching back and forth across the Craigavon Bridge here in Derry. Icy rain and wind pelting down on them and no-one waving flags. Cops yawning and scratching their arses. Looks like celebrating the slaughter of thousands of Irish people is less popular these days.
I hope they all catch flu (bird flu preferably)... That way they won't be able to play that unending shite 'one-melody-musical-excuse' of theirs that deafens the rest of us and makes us wonder why they're not arrested for inciting hate...

I take it the racket sounds a bit like this.
I can only suppose the people they are celebrating were a bit harder as this lot looks like they'd have problems taking on the average crown green bowling club. But I see what you mean about the noise.
And to be honest, marching about anything else on rememberance Sunday sort of makes me a little angry. My Uncles were either in tanks in the Desert or facing flak over Berlin in Lancasters and night fighters. A generation or two before and my people were in trenches facing god knows what. I find the day of their marching distasteful. They should do it in mid-summer when the kids could line up in the sun and chuck rotten fruit. We could have a BBQ and a funfair after - make a day of it.

Yes. Actually they're gone now. No doubt off in buses back to Hatesville or wherever the feck it is the hail from. Bowler hats, umbrellas, windswept soggy crisps bags, cigarette ashes from the tosser in front of them. They're just bloody ridiculous.spacecadet wrote:Are they wearing those bowler hats Lugh? Please let them be wearing the hats.
Nah mate. It's still a terrorist offence to film or take snapshots of anything where the cops are involved. Cameras get confiscated and mysteriously break due to falling down stairs...spacecadet wrote:Any chance of a picture?
Jesus wept. That's uncanny. Are they on a worldwide tour or whatspacecadet wrote:I take it the racket sounds a bit like this.
Infernal racket. I mean, it's not even a decent beat. Try marching or dancing to it. You'll end up twisting your spine, kicking the cat and knocking over the lampstand.spacecadet wrote:I can only suppose the people they are celebrating were a bit harder as this lot looks like they'd have problems taking on the average crown green bowling club. You and me both Dave. Even Sinn Fein now pay their respect to the fallen of both World Wars. Alex Maskey was Mayor of Belfast a few years back and in one of the most influential and symbolic moves to make peace, he laid a wreath at the war memorial. The Paisleyites were none too happy about this though. It threatened their fat-arsed comfortable careers in the service of contempt and they got vocal about it all.spacecadet wrote:And to be honest, marching about anything else on rememberance Sunday sort of makes me a little angry. Are you still trying to shift those awful sausage rolls Dave? Dear oh dear...spacecadet wrote:They should do it in mid-summer when the kids could line up in the sun and chuck rotten fruit. We could have a BBQ and a funfair after - make a day of it.

So they should. There was plenty of Irish blood spilt across Europe over the last 100 years.Bold wrote: Even Sinn Fein now pay their respect to the fallen of both World Wars.
A fact I discovered when trying to track some Welsh ancestry through the Battle of Trafalgar was that the English were outnumbered by the Welsh and the Irish present at the battle. I have a mental picture of both our ancestors joining up just to get away from the weather...... A free cruise around the Med looks pretty good after 300 days of solid rain.
Well I cooked them for the grand opening of The Fecker but those builders are taking ages to finish the job.Bold wrote:Are you still trying to shift those awful sausage rolls Dave? Dear oh dear...

Ever hear a song called; The Green Fields Of France? It was written by Eric Bogle and 'imho' the best performance of it is by; The Fureys. One of the most powerful anti-war songs ever about the Brave Fallen.spacecadet wrote: So they should. There was plenty of Irish blood spilt across Europe over the last 100 years.
Eric Bogle, a Scottish singer/songwriter who emigrated out to Australia, also wrote; The Band Played Waltzing Matilda. The Pogues do a beautiful though very haunting version of it on their superb 1985 album; Rum, Sodomy and the Lash...
Very true lol. I'm half and half - Irish / Scottish. Where do I sign up?spacecadet wrote:A fact I discovered when trying to track some Welsh ancestry through the Battle of Trafalgar was that the English were outnumbered by the Welsh and the Irish present at the battle. Yeah. O'Rielly Builders. I saw their work on an episode of Fawlty Towers and thought; 'hello. Could save a few bob here'. I was very, very wrongspacecadet wrote:Well I cooked them for the grand opening of The Fecker but those builders are taking ages to finish the job.

Well that's all very good, but I've got 3000 sausage rolls, 4 gallons of potato salad and enough prawn butties to feed Royal Ascot. And the marquee I borrowed for the big opening party (whether permitting) has been carted off by Slightly, along with 6 cows and a bale of wicker. Puzzling.....Bold wrote:Yeah. O'Rielly Builders. I have June Tabor singing an a cappella version of 'The Band Played Walzing Matilda,' which never fails. It always reduces me to tears. ( http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=am ... ex9kbfkrdt )
(the album is Anthology - a greatest hits/sampler of wonderfully gloomy and evocative stuff, in a folk idiom, whatever that means. At the risk of sounding like my grandad - you can make out the words, there are real tunes, brilliant arrangements of songs by the likes of Natalie Merchant, Richard Thompson, and a couple of Bogle songs as well as more traditional fare...)
