Another good one is lycos email. You get a free 3GB mailbox with unlimited filesize for attachments.

Ah Dave, you've met Alan Fisher aka the_leander. Cool bloke. Knows his internet stuff. You two will most likely have a few old chinwags on here about that sort of stuff.

Right. That's the formalities out of the road.

3GB storage? Very nice and I particularly like the notion of no limit on file sizes. I've never quite got the swing of FTP's.

Maybe it's time I looked at the lycos accounts in detail...

Personally I won't touch Lycos with a bargepole - I lost a lot of stuff with them a couple of years back...

Email accounts as a backup are great, but for me, this makes for a nice alternative for pure file storage...

They seem to have got their sh*t together with this new release.

And their spam filter works now. In fact, I've nearly run out of cheap chinese spamming feckers and don't know where to get anymore. Luckily I can no longer order a Russian bride to use it on now the adverts have stopped arriving.

I use it for porting big files around and for my forum/msn use.

I remember when Lycos bought their spam filters from the same cowboys that Freeserve did back in the day, some of the spam mails that would get through routinely were pretty horrific, I'm not talking porn here, but seriously sick shit.

Was fun trying to explain that one to the missus...
